With the horse comfortably at the trailer, ask him to put one foot on the trailer and then take it off again as you ask him to back up. Again, this is the same lesson, however this time the trailer is in the way - step forward, step back.
Give yourself (and your horse) a pat, you're doing well and the hardest part is over. Seriously, that was the hardest part - getting the first foot on (calmly and quietly). Well done!

These lessons are a guide for experienced horse people. All tips, techniques, advice and ideas you get and use from the Kandoo Club are entirely at your own risk. Horses are large animals and may be unpredictable so there is an inherent risk involved in any equestrian activity. Kandoo Equine aims to eliminate as much of this risk as possible by following evidence based training principles at all times.
